gps vehicle tracking and fuel efficency

GPS vehicle tracking is not only concerned with spending extra money for having an additional service but it can also be used for fuel saving with the help of green GPS system. GreenGPS utilizes a vehicle’s OBD-II system and a typical scanner tool in conjunction with a participatory data collection framework to enable collection and upload of fuel consumption data. In contrast to traditional mapping and navigation tools, such as Google maps  and MapQuest ,which provide either the fastest or the shortest route between two points, GreenGPS collects the necessary informationto compute and answer queries on the most fuel-efficient route. The most fuel-efficient route between two points may be different from the shortest and fastest routes. For example, a fastest route that uses a freeway may consume more fuel than the most fuel-efficient route because fuel consumption increases non-linearly with speed or because it is longer. Similarly, the shortest route that traverses busy city streets may be suboptimal because of downtown traffic.

Latest Developements in gps fleet tracking

g GPS fleet tracking always need new and innovative additions to decrease precession error that is very essential to improve efficiency. sacrificing efficiency gained from owning large equipment. Simply these technologies are used to make small gps vehicle fleet tracking more easy and beneficial as compared to efficiency gained by large large fleet of gps vehicle tracking.
Lightbars are becoming almost a standard item for most farmers and applicators.Autosteer is experiencing rapid  acceptance and new or improved products are flooding the marketplace.
different types of Ag technologies used for gps vehicle tracking are .Yield Monitors, Guidance Systems, Control Systems, Sensor Technology,Remote Sensing, GIS Advancements

Uses an image of the vehicle and an indication of where the vehicle should be
Some models have a “moving road” type of display
Combination systems

We need a precise (and maybe accurate) and stable GPS navigation signal (pass to pass).
We add a computer controlled electro-hydraulic steering box.
An inertial measurement device to compensate for yaw is nearly essential.
Pitch and roll should be considered.

Dual frequency signals (Deere SF2 and OMNISTAR HP) easily provide static horizontal precision less than 1 foot.
This typically translates to pass-to-pass accuracies less than 4 inches.
GPS accuracy is not all that matters – vehicle dynamics is important

GPS Vehicle Tracking and Automated Driving System

Knowing your position on earth is important question for people. In past stars, moon & sun was in use to locate positions and directions on earth. GPS has evolved from the United States Navy to the twenty four-satellite constellation that it is now.  Second satellite navigation system was built in 1967  called Timation. Timation gps  system improved upon the Transit system by using an atomic clock. But Timation was inaccurate and inefficient up to an extent. The year was 1973 when Navy and Air Force teamed up and formed the New Navigation Technology Program, That programme became Navigation System and Ranging or NAVSTAR GPS.

One of the widest use of GPS technology is now in vehicles.  Navlab incorporated a video camera and a GPS system for the purpose of driving from Pittsburgh to San Diego in 1995. This system have the ability to reduce idle time and traffic jams.  Technology may allow The gps vehicle tracking systems of vehicle to communicate with each other automatically in future. When this will happen problem of traffic jams will be solved.

GPS fleet tracking management

GPS fleet tracking will help you in following areas
GPS fleet tracking will help business to locate where there vehicles are currently & speed alerts If a company have specified limit of weight on its vehicle & have the specific speed limit for that much kind of weight GPS fleet tracking can tell the company if the vehicle crosses the speed limit. Company can also view the truck stops for how much time the time truck or vehicle starts from that location. GPS fleet tracking can also monitor the engine hour run of vehicle, how many hours the engine was in start position & how much distance the vehicle covered. This can help to prevent unproductive fuel cost saving. If the vehicle is idle for specific time the GPS fleet tracking system will send report to control office that there might be a problem that vehicle is idle for this time regard less of vehicle is stopped or in start position.

Advantages of GPS tracking | GPS fleet tracking

GPS vehicle tracking provide many benefits to individuals & business. Many fleet management companies are now using GPS vehicle tracking to keep record of delivery progress, fuel & cost records.

Monitoring of vehicle is distinguished benefit of gps vehicle tracking as vehicles move from one place to other. Stopping  for re-fueling and other stops is among the biggest advantages of GPS vehicle tracking.

Speed Checks are possible due to vehicle tracking system. Refreshment & other stops by drivers can be recorded with accuracy by gps vehicle tracking system.

Fleet management & freight management companies can use gps vehicle tracking system to keep the customers update about delivery status & approximate delivery date. Better plannig from Gps fleet tracking results in low costs & high performance in terms of operations.

In case of natural disasters fleet equipped with gps fleet tracking can better handle these scenarios. Fleet management company  headquarters using gps fleet tracking can tackle situations &  inform police cruisers and take related decisions or calls on movement or stalling of vehicles or rapid movements.
